CHCI Welcomes New Member: Jerald Thomas

Dr. Jerald Thomas is a postdoctoral researcher in the Computer Science department at Virginia Tech working with Dr. Doug Bowman. His research interests include Human Computer Interaction, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Redirected Walking, and Collaborative Virtual Environments. He is currently working in the 3D Interaction Group on topics in AR/VR. Dr. Thomas received his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Minnesota. His dissertation research focused on addressing two limitations: reliance on "ideal" physical environments and the inability to accommodate interactions with the physical environment. He explored a novel method that allows physical interactions in experiences relying on redirected walking.
