CHCI Alumni Highlight — Seungwon Yang, PhD
Seungwon Yang, PhD, (Ed Fox, Advisor) has a joint position as an Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Science and the Center for Computation and Technology at Louisiana State University (LSU). His latest research focuses on detecting fake news that are spreading in social media during crisis events (NSF #1620451). He also applies text mining and visualization techniques to various data analysis tasks including crime (NSF #1737557, http://smartcity.lsu.edu/) and digital curation data.
As a researcher looking into behavioral aspects of individuals and communities through the lens of social media, trainings and collaborations in HCI at VT (e.g., Information Visualizations, CSCW, and social media data analyses) helped me establish a firm foundation for my current research and career at LSU.
