Congratulations to Recent Graduates

We would like to acknowledge some of our CHCI student members who have recently graduated from VT. Congratulations to all, and we wish them the best as they move forward in their careers.

  1. Sakshi Mhatre graduated with an MS in Computer Science, under the guidance of Kurt Luther. Their research focused on Crowd Compositions for Bias Detection and Mitigation in Predicting Recidivism.
  2. Sylvia Bennett graduated with a dual undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Psychology. After graduation, Sylvia joined Accenture Federal Services as a Business Process Designer in Arlington.
  3. Daniel Vargas-Diaz graduated with an MSc in Computer Science and a Graduate Certificate in HCI, under the guidance of Sang Won Lee. Their research focused on An Exploratory Study of Involving Parents in E-book Joint Reading with Voice Agents. After graduation, Daniel became the Head of Learning at ProjectUs.ai.
  4. Shakiba Davari graduated with a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Applications, under the guidance of Doug A. Bowman. Their research focused on Intelligent Augmented Reality (iAR): Context-aware Inference and Adaptation in AR.
  5. Anmol Shukla graduated with a degree in Computer Science, under the guidance of Stephen Edwards. Their research focused on Investigating Student Perceptions of Equitable Grading Practices. After graduation, Anmol joined ASML LLC.
  6. Kylie Davidson graduated with a PhD in Computer Science, under the guidance of Doug Bowman and Chris North. Their research focused on Sensemaking in Immersive Space to Think: Exploring Evolution, Expertise, Familiarity, and Organizational Strategies. After graduation, Kylie joined the US Government.
  7. Mayali Clary graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience.
  8. Jaehoon Pyon graduated with a degree in Computer Science, under the guidance of Sang Won Lee.
  9. Donghan Hu graduated with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, under the guidance of Sang Won Lee. Their research focused on Using Screenshots as a Medium to Support Knowledge Workers' Productivity. After graduation, Donghan joined New York University as a postdoc.
  10. Maryam Rahimi Movassagh graduated with a master's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Their research focused on Natural Language Processing, Cognitive and Affective Computing, EEG Signal Monitoring. After graduation, Maryam joined the Computer Science Department at Virginia Tech as a Project Associate.
  11. Leonardo Pavanatto graduated with a PhD in Computer Science, under the guidance of Doug Bowman. Their research focused on Design and Evaluation of Virtual Displays to Enable the Future of Work from Anywhere. After graduation, Leonardo joined JP Morgan Chase.
  12. Uma Gunturi graduated with a degree in Computer Science, under the guidance of Eugenia H. Rho. Their research focused on Linguistically Differentiating Acts and Recalls of Racial Microaggressions on Social Media. After graduation, Uma joined IBM Watsonx.
